Accreditation by Cognia (formerly AdvancED) — a rigorous evaluation with great attention paid toward academic achievement, accomplished leadership, and excellence in personnel and resources.
Cognia is the parent organization of the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI), the Northwest Accreditation Commission (NWAC), and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI). Founded in 1898, the NCA is the largest of the country’s regional accrediting agencies — a voluntary organization of over 7,000 schools, colleges, and universities across twenty-one states.
What can accreditation mean for students?
It means the school is held accountable for improving student learning year after year, and that students have:
- Qualified teachers who are continually working to improve their practices and teaching methods
- Access to a rich, diverse, and sound curriculum
- Access to a range of student activities and support services
- Transferability of credits from school to school
- Greater access to federal loans, scholarships, post-secondary education, and military programs that require accreditation
Credits earned at an NCA CASI/SACS CASI accredited school are recognized by schools, colleges, and universities globally, and Cognia’s reciprocal agreements with sister organizations let students continue their education anywhere in the United States or around the world.
